12-1pm: Community Forum will held be at the JLC building located at 1332 Maryland Ave., Charlotte, NC 28209
Description The Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. (JLC) in collaboration with Communities in Schools is sponsoring a community forum on Food Deserts, bringing awareness home about our nation’s obesity epidemic. The event will feature tours of local community gardens followed by an expert panel on food deserts.

Date: Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012

When and Where: 10 a.m. - 11:30am Tours of the community gardens listed below.

Winterfield Elementary, 3100 Winterfield Place, Charlotte, NC 28205

Reid Park Academy, 4108 West Tyvola Rd., Charlotte, NC 28208

Private Residence, Hydroponic Community Garden

12-1pm: Community Forum will held be at the JLC building located at 1332 Maryland Ave., Charlotte, NC 28209

Vans will be available at 10am to transport attendees from uptown and the pick up point will be provided to those who RSVP.

This FREE event OPEN TO THE PUBLIC is hosted by the following JLC Committees: Advocacy and Public Awareness (APA), the Public Policy Institute (PPI) and the State Public Affairs Committee (SPAC).
