Due to an overwhelming response by the people of the Carolinas, we have exceeded our volunteer recruitment goal of 10,000 volunteers and registration to volunteer for the 2012 Democratic National Convention is now closed. Thank you to each volunteer who signed up to make this convention possible.
We are so impressed with the culture of volunteerism and how this community has risen to the occasion of helping to make this convention the most open and accessible in history.

Beyond volunteering convention week, there are so many ways for people to get involved with this historic event:
-On Monday, September 3, the Charlotte in 2012 Convention Host Committee will sponsor the first-ever family-friendly Labor Day convention kickoff event in Uptown Charlotte. This festival will engage more Americans and celebrates our Democracy, the Carolinas, Virginia, and the South. Guests attending the event will enjoy a free event with interactive expositions, family activities, and live music. Delegates and members of the public who want to attend caucus meetings can do so without missing the festival. Public transportation to Uptown Charlotte will be available. Visit www.charlottein2012.com to get more information about the event.
-On Thursday, September 6, President Obama will accept his nomination at Bank of America stadium, allowing tens of thousands more people to be engaged in the event. Sign up on www.demconvention.com to be the first to learn about how to get community credentials for the event.
-During the convention week, uptown will be open for business and bustling with members of the media, delegates, elected officials, and others. We want to welcome visitors to our state and region with southern hospitality.
