Building a Broader, More Inclusive and Diverse Economy

We will make increased opportunities for small, local, and diverse businesses possible during and beyond the Convention. A broad and inclusive business community helps businesses participate in the Convention and opens up paths to prosperity for more people in Charlotte and the Carolinas for years ahead. MORE >>>

Healthy Children; Healthy Families

We will make it possible to reduce childhood obesity, increase access to healthy foods, and promote healthy lifestyles in Charlotte and the region. Children who grow up obese face a greater risk of diabetes, heart disease, and other health problems as they get older. Food deserts in Charlotte-Mecklenburg and declining levels of physical activity exacerbate the obesity problem. MORE >>>

Youth Employment and Civic Education

We will make it possible for young people to enter the work force better prepared through meaningful civic engagement in the community and in the Convention. MORE >>>

Energy, Technology, & Community Sustainability

We will make a sustainable, high quality of life possible for future generations. Our future will be the brightest if we use less, recycle more, re-use when we can, and meet our needs with efficient and sustainable energy solutions. MORE >>>

Catalyzed by the historic 2012 Democratic National Convention, the Charlotte community has undertaken significant efforts to show rather than just tell the world how we come together and problem solve. As a result, for more than a year, we have been working hard to create an enduring legacy of across four key areas: reducing childhood obesity, lifting the ambitions of young people by engaging them in putting the convention together, making our city more sustainable than any other convention city and promoting inclusive business practices. By the time the convention happens, we want you to see what we've done, not what we promise to do. Volunteers, partner organizations and supporters are working hard every day and showing that we make it possible to shape our future here in Charlotte and North Carolina.

On this page, you can experience this legacies in words, images and videos. I hope that you are inspired to join your neighbors, colleagues, family members and friends in these efforts - wherever you happen to live.

Together, in Charlotte, in North Carolina and in America, the future is not handed to us. We make it possible.

Best always,
